Wow. Whiplash was fantastic. J K Simmons and Miles Teller were both mesmerizing . This is definitely one of my new favorite movies, but one I don’t imagine I’ll revisit for quite some time.

Simmons is a fantastic actor. Even when he’s just doing a commercial for State Farm, he’s worth watching.

That was a seriously good one, and it resonated with me. But that's because I’m also a drummer who played under a very intense and demanding jazz director (nothing like that, but still...) , so I also don’t need to revisit it again too soon . He got the best out of us, though.
Where have all the lightweights gone?

I loved this movie from the first time I saw it, and this video gave me a whole new appreciation for it.

That is a fantastic film. Miles Teller deserves lots of kudos for his work on the film. That’s actually him playing the drums - not all in one take, mind you, but he really does put in the effort to learn to play and he really did have bloody blisters.
I admit that I had both of my kids watch Whiplash. It was so they could understand that there really are people like that out there, seemingly unreasonable demands may be made of them in life, but if it’s worth it to them, they can use those moments to become better. Also, that it it’s not worth it to them, it’s ok to walk away.
